Insurance Hockey Tournament Fundraises for
Big Brother Big Sisters

5th year for Ontario General Insurance Hockey Tournament fundraiser for Big Brother Big Sisters and Camp McGovern

FORT ERIE – April 18, 19, 20th - The Ontario General Insurance Hockey Tournament took place throughout the third weekend of April, with games being played in Fort Erie and Welland, while post game festivities and fundraising events were held in the banquet hall of the Holiday Inn Fort Erie. The tournament encompassed teams, sponsors and organizers from all across Ontario.
For the past 5 years, the 40 team hockey tournament has raised funds for the local chapters of Big Brothers Big Sisters and Camp McGovern (the camp in Elmwood, Ontario which accepts underprivileged children from the Big Brothers Big Sisters program). The 27th edition of the annual tournament, organized by a committee comprised of members from the Niagara South Insurance Brokers Association, Ontario Insurance Adjusters Association – Niagara Chapter, CARSTAR, Woodhouse Disaster Clean-up and a group of insurance industry representatives from Kitchener-Waterloo, exceeded their target fundraising goal of $30,000.
The weekend was an enormous success, as teams battled on the ice for the pride of winning the championship for their specific division. While, as always, the real winners were Camp McGoven and the Niagara Big Brothers and Big Sisters charities, as a result of the overwhelming support from the tournament participants and sponsors, especially the Town of Fort Erie and the many Insurance Companies which “stepped up to the plate” with substantial sponsorship donations to the Ontario General Insurance Hockey Tournament.
